Rockaway Beach Park, Bainbridge Island

Summary: Rockaway Beach is our favorite dive site on Bainbridge.  It is located on the eastern side of the island tucked into a small protected cove adjacent to a park in a quiet residential area. The entry is a little technical getting in and out walking over the large rocks. Once you get in the water, the site is very easy to navigate: start the dive at a fixed buoy that is the starting point for the dive line leading down to the reef and then return up the same line.  The line goes down to 95 feet but most of the structure and life is between 40-60 feet.

Address: 4112-4128 Rockaway Beach Rd NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. The site is best at high tide - it can be a long walk if the tide is low.

Plan Accordingly: The site is best at high tide - it can be a long walk if the tide is low.  Currents are not too much of a concern and the reef provides nice protection if it is strong.  Check Tide Charts - Plan a safe, comfortable dive at PNWDiving.com

Things to see: The line leads you down a gentle sloping bottom to Norranders Reef.  This rock “reef” extends west to east and is covered with California sea cucumbers, sea stars, nudibranchs, rockfish and crabs

Facilities: There are no bathrooms on site. It's a public park, there is limited street parking next to the park.
